CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Freshman
Chad Poarch of the High Point University men's soccer team was named the Big South Come Ready Nutrition Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Poarch had a goal and an assist in the Panthers' 3-0 win over Longwood.
Poarch played a role in each of the High Point's first two goals in the win over the Lancers. The outside back scored the eventual game winner to break a 0-0 draw, intercepting a ball in the midfield and dribbling into the box before getting off a shot to the far post. He then combined with freshman
Siggi Benonysson to deliver a cross to redshirt-freshman
Bana Ganidekam.
Â
Poarch is the fifth-different HPU player to earn Big South Player of the Week honors, joining Benonysson, Ganidekam, senior
Chris Ramsell and freshman
Ben Hietala. Benonysson, Ganidekam and Hietala were all named Freshman of the Week while senior
Chris Ramsell was named Offensive Player of the Week. High Point has now won five Come Ready Nutrition Freshman of the Week honors this season.
Â
The Panthers wrap up their non-conference schedule with a road contest at NC State on Tuesday, Oct. 11, in Raleigh, N.C. The game is set to kickoff at 7 p.m.
