HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University baseball team will try and clinch a series win over UNC Asheville when the two teams meet in the rubber game of their three-game series on Sunday, May 10, at 1 p.m., in Williard Stadium.
The game between High Point and UNC Asheville is the final home game of the season for HPU.
The Panthers evened the series at a game apiece with a 9-6 win over Asheville on Saturday night. Senior
Conor Lourey struck out a career-high 10 batters to pick up the win on the mound for HPU.
Lourey allowed just two earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out 10 in six innings of work. The right-hander bested his previous career-high of nine strikeouts, which he did in relief against VMI last season. Lourey improves to 3-1 with his second win in as many weeks.
Redshirt-junior
Joe Goodman pitched a perfect ninth with one strikeout to earn his team-high fifth save of the season.
Jordan Fulbright took the loss for UNC Asheville, dropping to 5-2 for the season. gave up four earned runs in 3-1/3 innings of work. Fulbright gave up six hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
Sophomore
Peter Ripke finished 2-4 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored in his first start as a position player at High Point. Senior
Josh Spano went 3-5 with two RBI and two runs scored and senior
Tony Fortier-Bensen finished 2-5 with two RBI.
