HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women's lacrosse team heads to Burlington, N.C., for a midweek clash with intra-Triad rival Elon on Wednesday.

First draw at Rhodes Stadium is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Phoenix All-Access, with live stats also available on elonphoenix.com.

Last time out, the Panthers fell to Vermont, 13-11, on Wednesday (March 4) inside Vert Stadium. HPU trailed 9-4 at the break, but used a 5-1 run to cut the Catamount lead to one (10-9) midway through the second half. HPU was within one (12-11) with under eight minutes to play, but could not move any closer for the remainder of the game.

HPU (1-5) held advantages in shots (30-25), shots on goal (23-20), ground balls (16-13) and draw controls (16-11), but Vermont held a 12-7 edge in saves and forced 12 HPU turnovers.

Junior
Leah Pace led High Point with a career-high four points on three goals and an assist and registered a personal best three draw controls on the day. Senior attack
Kendyl Gardner added three goals and picked up two ground balls while junior
Emily Meier posted four points (2g, 2a) and caused two turnovers on the day.

Gardner is tied for the team lead with nine goals this season and also has picked up eight ground balls on the year. The Severna Park, Md., native ranks fifth on the HPU all-time goals list with 91 career scores. She needs 18 more to move into a tie for fourth-place with current HPU assistant coach
Grace Gaeng (109).

PANTHERS AMONGST THE LEAGUE LEADERSAllie Foard leads the Big South in both assists (7) and assists per game (1.17) this season, while senior goalkeeper
Julia Burns is second in the conference and the nation with 64 saves on the year. Burns also is seventh nationally with 10.67 saves per game.

HISTORY vs. ELONWednesday's contest will mark the second ever meeting between the Panthers and Phoenix. In the only game between the teams, HPU defeated Elon, 11-4, on March 30 last season inside Vert Stadium. Gardner posted five goals in the game while current Panthers

Allie Foard each added two scores in the win.

A LOOK AT THE PHOENIX (4-3)Elon was picked to finish seventh in the CAA preseason poll. The Phoenix has won four of their first seven gamed in 2015, including an 11-6 win over Big South foe Coastal Carolina in its most recent matchup on March 6. Elon is 2-1 at home so far this season. The Phoenix is led by freshman attack Stephanie Asher, who ranks ninth in the nation with 20 goals this season and has posted 14 draw controls. Sophomore attack Sloane Kessler has posted 21 points on the year and is seventh nationally with 12 assists. Kessler also has picked up 15 ground balls on the year. Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Ramirez has posted a 10.71 goals against average and .449 save percentage in 2015.
