The High Point University women's soccer team picked up a 2-1 win on the road against Presbyterian College on Saturday night in Clinton, S.C. Freshman Jenny Marshall scored the game-winning goal for the Panthers.

"I am very proud of the way the team performed tonight," head coach Marty Beall said. "This is the best Presbyterian College that I have ever seen. I was very pleased with the way the team responded after giving up a goal late in the first half in the scramble off a set piece. I am very happy that our girls were able to get a road win like this. Getting these three points helps build our confidence heading into the conference tournament."

High Point created several dangerous chances early in the game and broke through for the lead in the 17th minute on a goal by senior Becca Hemby. The senior received a headed pass on the left side of the box from redshirt-freshman Kelsey Perrell and hit a shot to the top-right corner of goal. The goal was Hemby's second of the season and her second in as many games.

The Blue Hose tied the game in the closing seconds of the first half when Emily McCord scored with 29 seconds left on the clock to knot the game at 1-1. Presbyterian College earned a corner kick, its sixth of the first half, and Stephanie Allen hit a low ball to the near post. Sara Simpson helped the ball on McCord who hit a hard shot into the roof of the net from five-yards in front of goal.

HPU got the lead back in the 49th minute with a goal by Marshall from 18-yards. Senior Kelli Joline dribbled into the left side of the Blue Hose penalty area and passed on to Parker who dropped the ball to Marshall at the edge of the box. Marshall settled the ball and hit a low shot into the bottom left corner to put High Point ahead, 2-1.

The Panthers finished the game with an 18-13 edge in shots, putting five on frame in the game. Marshall and Hemby each had four shots on the night to lead HPU.

Senior Jesse May made two saves on the night to pick up the win for High Point. Sydney Fontenot took the loss for Presbyterian after allowing Marshall's second-half tally.

HPU improves to 7-9-1 overall and moves up to sixth in the Big South with a 5-4-1 conference mark. Presbyterian College drops to 8-8-0 overall and 5-5-0 in conference play.

High Point returns home on Tuesday, Oct. 29, to play Campbell in the Panthers' final game of the regular season. Campbell is 7-10-0 overall and 3-7-0 in the conference following a 4-0 win over VMI on Saturday. The game is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m., and will be preceded by a ceremony honoring the HPU seniors.
