HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University women's soccer was matched up against Davidson College on Sunday afternoon at Vert Stadium. After a tough fight with the Wildcats, the Panthers fell 1-0.

"In the first half, we didn't come out prepared to challenge through the heat and they did," Head Coach
Aaron McGuiness said. "I thought the second half we came out and we were much more dominant. We can't give a team 45 minutes and a goal up and think that we can come back and win games at this level."
High Point forward,
Sabba Haghgoo stood out with two shots on goal and one grazing the fingers of Davidson goalkeeper, and
Ally Ruiz attempting to get a rebound. Haghgoo fought missing one shot high, with her shots on goal being low left and low center.
Brooke Potter and
Gianna Rizzo tallied a shot on goal in the first half at the 22 and 27 minute mark.
Morgan Wilcox missing high with her one shot for the day.
Chloe Edwards and Aleene Ulke had shots on goal both being low center. Ruiz had one shot, missing high with five minutes left in the game.
Goalkeeper
Nylah Mirshafiei played the full 90 minutes where she claimed one save. She faced five shots in the game all from above the penalty area.
"We have got to put our best foot forward right from the get-go and challenge them early instead of waiting until the second half to turn it around."
The Panthers outshot the Wildcats 6-2, totaling nine shots in both halves. High Point had strong substitutions come into the game, Rizzo and Edwards both claiming a shot on goal, while Wilcox ripped a shot but missing high.
HPU continues its season on Thursday at 4:00 pm, where they are pitted against Marshall University at Vert Stadium
