The High Point University women's lacrosse team got five goals from
Alexis Goldman and netminder
Anna Wallingford made nine saves in a 19-9 win over Longwood on a rainy afternoon at Vert Stadium. The Panthers remained perfect at 6-0 in the National Lacrosse Conference.
"I'm proud of the way my team played all over the field," said HPU head coach
Lyndsey Boswell. "Lexi has been working hard and is really trying to finish her senior year strong. Anna has been getting extra work in and it's paying off. We've been playing well in transition and we're looking forward to a strong finish to the season."
Goldman notched a career-best six-goal game against Liberty last Friday and backed it up with five goals on Sunday against Longwood. Sophomore midfielder

Wallingford made nine saves and had an excellent caused turnover, intercepting a pass over the goal, in the second half. She improved to 11-3 with the win. Longwood goalie Mollie Zimmerman started and finished the game, making eight saves on 22 shots. She was relieved by Christian Acker, who made two saves, in the second half, but Zimmerman came in to finish it.
Longwood was led on attack by Jessica Rudloff, who had three goals and an assist. Lauren Prasnick and Jamie Brentlinge each scored twice and midfielder Hannah Riggs had seven ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers.
High Point improved to 12-3 overall (6-0 NLC) while Longwood dropped to 2-12 overall and 2-4 in the league.
HPU sophomore
Sara Kuhlman scored the first goal of the game, but the Lancers came out strong and tied it at 1-1, 3-3 and 4-4. Brentlinger scored Longwood's third goal with an assist from Sara Jacobson with 18:05 left in the first. After Carroll scored her first goal of the game, Prasnicki tied it back up on a free-position shot with 14:47 to go.
High Point was able to break the game open for good with a four-goal run in the last 14 minutes of the first half. Dougherty scored the go-ahead goal on a free-position attempt with 13:58 to go in the first half. HPU backed it up with a wrap-around goal from Gaeng with 11:24 left. Kendyl Gardner and Gaeng, the last coming with 3:11 left in the first to make it 8-5.
Longwood got back on the board when Rudloff shot the ball through traffic to make it 8-5 with 1:58 left in the first and that was the score at the break.
High Point came out and scored the first four goals of the second half, started by sophomore defender
Patricia Bigelow's second-career goal on a free-position shot with 25:50 left in the game. High Point led 12-5 when Gaeng spun through the defense and got a low shot on net with 21:11 left.
Longwood made its last challenge when Liz Trainer got an excellent pass inside to Alexa Anderson, who scored into the corner of the net to make it 12-6 with 20:20 to go, but the Panthers scored six of the next seven goals to put it away. Sophomore Defender

High Point was a perfect 11-for-11 on clear attempts and went 5-for-7 on free-position shots.
The Panthers finish the regular season by hosting Davidson for Senior Night next Saturday at 6 p.m. at Vert Stadium. HPU is 6-0 in NLC play and looks to lock up its first conference regular season championship.
