Junior
Neal Darmody of the High Point University men's track and field team finished 15th in the second section of the 10,000-meter run with a new personal-best time of 29:54.25 at the Stanford Invitational late Friday night in Palo Alto, Calif.
“I was really pleased with Neal's race, he was in his parameters,” said HPU head coach
Mike Esposito. “The Colorado kids were way out in front so Neal was a little bit in no-man's land. Still that is the third third-fastest time for us all-time at HPU and it gives Neal a shot to make the NCAA Region meet which is one of his goals.”
Darmody bested his previous personal record in the 10,000-meters of 30:25.03 which he set in the same event last season. The junior is HPU's third fastest runner in the event, behind only
Cole Atkins and
Jesse Cherry who set the High Point record in the event at the Stanford Invitational last season.
