The High Point University men's basketball team took a 67-48 win over Presbyterian on Senior Night on Saturday night at the Millis Center. It was the final home game for Cruz Daniels and Eugene Harris. Corey Law led HPU in scoring for the first time with 18 points and pulled down 15 rebounds.

"I'm really happy we played well all year at home. You've got to be happy with a 12-1 home record," said HPU head coach Scott Cherry. "I'm happy for the two seniors. It's always a tough night to play on Senior Night but I thought they handled it well and we got the win. Unfortunately we left it up to other teams and now we have to go on the road and play a really good UNC Asheville team."

Harris ended the night with 11 points and four rebounds and went 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Daniels blocked five shots and grabbed four rebounds. Sophomore Nick Barbour scored 17 points.

High Point improved to 15-14 overall and 10-8 in the Big South with the win. HPU more than doubled its conference win total from last year, when the Panthers went 9-21 overall and 4-14. Presbyterian ended its season 5-26 overall and 2-16 in conference play.

HPU opened the game when Tehran Cox hit Law for an alley-oop. Presbyterian got its first lead at 11-10 when Jake Troyli hit a three-pointer going into an official timeout. Barbour drained a trey to get HPU the lead back shortly after, and Harris hit a three from the same spot a minute later to make it 16-11 in favor of the Panthers. Presbyterian came back and tied it at 18-18 on a pair of free throws by Ryan Hargrave before HPU pulled away to close out the half. Two of Law's six first-half baskets came on HPU's 14-4 run that finished the half. Cox capped it with a three-pointer to make it 32-22 at the break.

Presbyterian came out shooting to start the second half, taking an 11-2 run with two treys by Chase Holmes to get within a point of the Panthers. HPU freshman Jairus Simms stopped the bleeding with a trey at the 15:50 mark. Simms's third three-pointer made it 41-35 at 13:21. After an official timeout, Cox hit a layup and completed a three-point play to make it 48-39. The Panthers continued to hold the margin, getting buckets from Barbour, Cox and Harris en route to a 56-43 edge before three straight free throws from Troyli.

A jumper by Troyli with 4:35 left in the game made it 59-48, and that was the closest Presbyterian would get. HPU scored the final 11 points of the game as Barbour hit a three and sank two free throws, and Law hit three layups to close out the game.

Hargrave led Presbyterian with 12 points and Troyli and Khalid Mutakabbir each scored 10.

The 18 points was a career-high for Law and he posted his fifth double-double in the last 11 games. Simms went 3-for-3 from downtown and finished the regular season shooting 53.3 percent (24-45) from three-point range. Cox scored eight points and had five assists with no turnovers.

High Point plays UNC Asheville on the road in the first round of the Big South Tournament on Tuesday. The game will begin at 7 p.m. at the Justice Center and will be broadcast live on Country Legends 98.3 FM and have live video on the Big South Network.
