COMPLETE RESULTS

The High Point University men's cross country team placed 16th out of 35 teams at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Louisville, Ky. on Saturday. The Panthers were led by sophomore Neal Darmody (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard), who took 63rd, and junior Jevin Monds (Whitecourt, Alberta/Hilltop), who placed 73rd.

"Jevin Monds, Neal Darmody and Josh Cashman (Deep River, Conn./Valley Regional) ran well, and ran in their parameters," said head coach Mike Esposito. "I'm proud of the way they ran. For the freshmen, it was their first time running the 10K distance but it was a good experience for them. Stuart Edmonds (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) had a good race. The conditions were perfect and the course was lightening fast."

Darmody finished in 32:15.30 and Monds in 32:23.42. Edmonds placed 117th in 33:08.88 and Cashman placed 121st in 33:16.41.

Freshman Jacob Smith (Brockville, Ontario/Thousand Islands Secondary School) took 139th in a time of 33:37.86 and freshman Dakota Peachee (Garner, N.C./West Johnston) placed 145th in 33:47.99. Senior Josh Morgan (Asheville, N.C./TC Roberson) also started the race but dropped out around the 4.5-mile mark with a foot injury.

The top two teams in the meet – William & Mary and NC State – earned automatic bids to the NCAA Championship.

The meet concluded High Point University's 2009 cross country season. The Panthers placed second in the Big South Championship two weeks ago, hosting the event for the first time.
