Box Score

The High Point University men's basketball team got points from 11 different players but it wasn't enough as the Panthers fell 70-53 to Presbyterian College on Saturday night in the Millis Center.

HPU slips to 3-5 overall with the loss and 0-2 in Big South Conference play. The Blue Hose moved to 4-4 and 2-0 after earning their third consecutive win.

All 11 Panthers that got into the game scored in the contest led by eight points each from Earnest Bridges, Eugene Harris and Melvin Crowder. Sophomore David Campbell finished with a career-best 13 rebounds in helping HPU to a 33-31 advantage on the glass.

Al'Lonzo Coleman scored 18 points to lead a quartet of PC players in double-digits while also pulling down a game best 14 rebounds. The Blue Hose shot 52 percent from the floor for the game including a 10-for-20 (50 percent) performance from the three-point line.

The Panthers never led in the game as Presbyterian scored the first 10 points of the contest. High Point had five turnovers and missed three shots in the opening five minutes of play. HPU kept battling and closed their deficit to just seven points several times during the first half.

Back-to-back treys in the final minute of the first period including one at the buzzer by Pierre Miller sent the visiting Blue Hose into the halftime break with a 34-20 advantage.

High Point found more consistency on the offensive end in the second half. However, Presbyterian maintained their lead with strong shooting of their own. The Blue Hose's largest lead, 67-43, came with just under three minutes left in the game before a final surge by the Panthers closed the gap for the final margin.

The Panthers will continue their current four-game home stand on Wednesday against Limestone College at 7 p.m. HPU brings a 21-game non-conference home win streak into Wednesday's tilt.
