George Mason came out strong in the second half and cut the lead down to four with a 9-1 run in the first two and a half minutes. The Panthers responded with a run of their own to pull the lead back to 10 (48-38) off a lay-up by Fields. The Patriots would again cut the lead down to four, 55-51, with 4:49 left to play off a made charity shot by Whitney Ward.
