Box Score The High Point University men's basketball closed out their non-conference home slate on Thursday night by topping Longwood University, 68-54, extending their non-conference win streak to 19 games.
HPU, who improves to 10-8 on the season with the victory, has not lost at home to a team outside the Big South Conference since Dec. 11, 2004 against Furman. Longwood drops their seventh straight decision and slip to 4-19 overall this year.
Senior forward Arizona Reid recorded his sixth straight and Big South leading 14th double-double of the season finishing with 28 points and 14 rebounds to lead High Point. Reid had 18 of the Panthers 32 first half points in helping HPU gain control of the contest.

Kirk Williams paced the Lancers with 14 points and eight boards. Brandon Giles added 11 points and Lamar Barrett finished with 10 in the loss for Longwood.
High Point used a 13-3 run midway through the first period to break open a tightly contested affair. The Panthers carried the momentum into the halftime break holding a 32-26 edge.
The Panther scored six of the first eight points in the second half to grab a double-digit lead, 38-28, just two minutes into play. Back-to-back baskets from Longwood cut the deficit to six but the Lancers could get no closer as HPU posted an 8-1 rally over the next five minutes to seize control.
HPU maintained a double-digit advantage for the final 13 minutes of play in securing a perfect 6-0 non-conference home record.

Longwood made 8 three-pointers in the game and shot better from beyond the arc (34.8 percent) than they did overall (33.3). The Lancers also held a 17-12 edge on the offensive glass resulting in 13 second chance points to keep things close.
