The High Point University volleyball team earned an impressive 3-0 (30-24, 30-9, 30-27) road sweep of in-state foe Campbell on Monday night.

The Panthers, who made their return to the court following a nine-day break from competition, improved to 8-4 on the year and 5-0 versus in-state opponents with the win. Campbell fell to 6-9 after the straight-game defeat.

Junior setter Kristina Taylor posted a double-double in pacing the Panther attack. Taylor handed out 31 assists in leading HPU to a .231 team hitting performance while also tallying a team-best 15 digs. High Point's outside hitting tandem of senior Jamie Kaufman and sophomore Audie Gonzalez topped the squad in kills with 13 and 12, respectively.

Taylor Deering had 10 kills and 14 digs in recording the Camels top performance on the night.

"We did a great job earning an important road victory," said HPU head coach Chad Esposito. "We were a little rusty at the start of the match after being a week away from competition, but we finally settled down and really got things rolling. We used aggressive serving to effectively dictate the tempo of the match. Tonight's win was a complete team effort."

Campbell rushed to a quick 6-0 lead at the start of game one and extended their advantage to 19-11 before the Panthers clawed their way back. Kaufman sparked HPU with a nine-point run from the service line including three service aces to give High Point their first lead of the match at 20-19. After trading points, HPU closed out the frame with a 9-2 surge.

The Panthers scored 10 straight points on Gonzalez' serve midway through game two as HPU opened up a double-digit lead at 16-6. High Point kept the pressure on and cruised to the easy victory.

HPU and Campbell treated fans to a classic sideout battle in game three as the two squads saw 10 ties and seven lead changes during the frame. With the score knotted at 20, the Panthers grabbed the momentum with a 7-2 spurt and held on for the sweep by scoring the last three points of the game.

High Point next opens up Big South Conference play on Friday as the Panthers visit defending league champion Winthrop at 7 p.m.
