The High Point University baseball team rallied for a 5-3 victory over Radford on Sunday in a Big South Conference action at Dedmon Center Park.

The Panthers improve to 17-15, 4-2 in the Big South with the win while the Highlanders fall to 8-18 overall and 1-5 in conference play. The victory gave HPU its second straight league series win in as many weeks.

High Point struck first, scoring in the top of the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Pablo Rosario that scored Chris Norwood.

The Highlanders responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead 2-1. Rocky Weiss was hit by a pitch to reach base and then scored when Tyren Rivers followed with a triple. Rivers scored on a groundout by Nachion Moore. RU extended its lead in the fourth with a solo home run by Rivers.

The Panthers regained the lead with a single run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth. Eric Marion's double resulted in a run when Rosario reached on an error, allowing Marion to score. Robby Kuzdale reached in the sixth on another error, and then scored on a single by Bill Manion. Manion scored two batters later on a double by Randy Schwartz.

The Panthers added an insurance run in the eighth on an RBI single by Schwartz that drove in Manion.

Schwartz led the Panther attack with a 3-for-4 day including two RBI. Manion and Marion each chipped in two hits in the contest. Kuzdale scored a run but had his team-best 16-game hit streak halted.

Radford's Steve Mignogna, who entered on a Big South leading 18-game hitting streak, went 0-4 on the day to end the run.

High Point starter senior Brandon Moore (2-1) earned the win, throwing six innings, giving up three runs on four hits. Tom Boleska picked up his third save of the year striking out two in one inning of work. RU starter Adam Hoyt (1-4) took the loss, throwing 7 1/3 innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on seven hits with five strikeouts.

HPU will enjoy a week off from midweek games before returning to Big South action on Friday (Apr. 6) at VMI.
