Box Score The High Point University volleyball team treated itself to an impressive 3-0 (31-29, 30-23, 30-27) sweep over in-state rival Campbell on Halloween night at the Millis Center on Tuesday.

"We played extremely well tonight," said HPU head coach Chad Esposito. "This may have been our best overall match of the season. We stayed focused throughout the match and were able to record key sideouts when we needed them. I thought we served aggressively and kept them off balance and our defense was tremendous again. Offensively, we were very consistent and made some smart shots. Hopefully we can continue to build on our win streak this weekend on the road in the Big South."
Game one saw Campbell take an early five-point lead (10-5) and then maintain an advantage until High Point rallied to tie the score at 18. The two squads traded points for several rotations with neither team holding more than a three-point lead the remainder of the frame. HPU led 28-26 with the serve, but CU fought back to even the score at 29, before High Point recorded the final two points for the victory.
High Point used a mid-game surge in the second stanza to take control and grab a 2-0 match lead. The Panthers hit .300 in game two while holding Campbell to just an .065 performance.
Both teams stepped up their frontline defense in the third game as HPU recorded 5.5 blocks in the frame and Campbell tallied five. The Panthers opened up a 17-10 margin only to see the Camels keep fighting and close the gap to three points (22-19). High Point pushed ahead 28-22, but Campbell fought off three match-points before Raus and Ashley Mellott teamed for a block to score the deciding point.
High Point hits the road for a pair of important Big South Conference matches this weekend at Radford (Friday) and Liberty (Saturday). The Panthers will close out their regular season home slate next Tuesday against non-conference foe North Carolina A&T at 7 p.m.
