Box Score

The High Point University men's soccer team was out scored by Louisville, 2-0, on Saturday night at the University of Kentucky Invitational.

Chris Archer, Dan Haywood and Josh Windley each recorded a shot on goal within the first five minutes of the contest, but were unable to connect with the back of the goal.

"We started out really well tonight," said head coach Peter Broadley. "We were about even on the number of shots on goal, so it was good to see that we were able to create opportunities. We have some problems that we need to work-on, but they are definitely things that can be fixed."

The game then shifted sides when the Cardinals scored their first goal. Matt Pranger scored the first goal at the 15 minute mark. David Guzman added the second just ten minutes later.

The Panthers had two more opportunities to score. Patrick Althoff took a chance just before halftime and Tyler Bush tried for goal early in the second half. However both were stopped by Cardinal goalkeeper Charlie Edwards.

On goal for High Point was Adam Ross, who had three saves in the contest.

"High Point is a good team," said Louisville head coach Tony Colavecchia. "There was a 15 minute spell where they were very dangerous."

Archer and Bush were both named to the All-Tournament Team.

Next the Panthers return home for the Big South opener against Radford. That game is set for Sept. 7, 7 p.m. at Albion Millis Stadium.
