UNC Greensboro ended High Point's winning streak with a 3-1 victory over the Panthers Tuesday afternoon at Erath Field.

The Panthers dip to 15-18 (4-5 in the Big South), while UNCG improves to 18-9 for the season and 8-4 in the Southern Conference.

Bubba O'Donnell took the loss (1-1) for High Point. O'Donnell pitched six innings, allowing five hits, three runs, three earned, walking five, and striking out two.

Spartan starter Clay Gibson (2-0) and reliever Patrick Currin teamed up to give UNC Greensboro the win. Gibson pitched five innings, allowing two hits, one run, walking one, and striking out seven. Currin earned his third save of the season going four innings striking out five and allowing three hits.

UNC Greensboro's David Adams singled up the middle in the top of the second to allow Jay Maule to score the first run of the game. In the third, Jeremy Roulin ran across home plate off a sacrifice fly to center field. The Spartans scored once more in the top of the fourth when Roulin hit a single to left field allowing Sean Snell to score.

High Point's lone run came in the bottom of the fifth when Brett Lazar reached home-plate off a wild pitch.

Brandon Moore pitched three innings of relief for HPU allowing one hit, walking one, and striking out one.

The Panthers will host Conference foe Charleston Southern on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. First pitch on Friday is set for 3:00 pm with both weekend games scheduled for 1:00 pm.
