Box Score High Point claimed a 4-3 win over Gardner-Webb Tuesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action.
Ricky Hudson (1-0) earned his first win, while Matt Kniginyzky picked up his seventh save for HPU. Clay Konas (2-5) took the loss for the Bulldogs.
High Point improves to 18-22 on the season (6-9 in Big South), while GWU falls to 16-21, 6-9 Atlantic Sun.
Ryan Sickles, Joey Testa, and Jay McConnell all scored in the first inning to put Gardner-Webb on top, 3-0.
Dustin Holtzman tripled to right center to score Josh Cotten in the bottom of the second to get the Panthers on the board. Bobby Brown's sacrifice fly allowed Holtzman to cross the plate and bring HPU within one (3-2).
Cotten scored again in the fourth when Brown singled to center field to tie the game at 3-3. In the bottom of the fifth, Juan Carcheri hit his first homer of the season to put High Point on top, 4-3.
Hudson allowed five hits, three runs, three earned, walked two and struck out five in 6.2 innings of work, while Kniginyzky tossed 1.0 inning of scoreless relief to earn the save.
High Point will travel to Birmingham, Ala. on Friday for a three-game weekend series against Conference foe Birmingham-Southern.
