High Point's baseball team completed a season sweep of Wofford with a 7-6 victory over the Terriers Wednesday afternoon in Spartanburg.

The Panthers scored three runs in the eighth inning to pull ahead. Ro Castro scored the winning run on a wild pitch, while Brett Lazar had three hits and four RBI to lead the way offensively for the Panthers.

Matt Kniginyzky (2-3) picked up the win for HPU, while Charles Vartanian (1-1) took the loss for Wofford.

High Point improves to 12-17 on the season, while Wofford dips to 11-17.

Brett Lazar had three hits and four RBI to lead the way offensively for the Panthers, while Kniginyzky tossed 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win. He allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out five.

Randy Schwartz doubled to score Chris Ramirez in the first inning for an early 1-0 lead, but the Terriers went up 3-1 in the bottom of the first on Shane Kirkley's three-run homer.

In the top of the fourth, Lazar hit a single down the left field line to drive in Nick Thompson and Dustin Holtzman. Ramirez then scored Juan Carcheri with  an RBI single.

Wofford tied the game in the bottom of the fifth when Zach Pittman scored on a single by Stephen Johnson. The Terriers tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 6-4 lead.

In the top of the eighth, Lazar drove in Holtzman and Bobby Brown to tie the score, and Castro scored the game-winning run on a two-out wild pitch by Vartanian.

HPU downed Wofford, 8-4, on Feb. 23 in High Point.

The Panthers return to Big South play Friday at UNC Asheville (3:00 pm).
