High Point split two matches at the West Virginia Invitational on Sunday. The Panthers swept Delaware State, 3-0, before falling to Robert Morris by a 3-0 count.

Lindsey Pickens led a balanced Panther attack with 16 kills and 11 digs in the win over Delaware State. Jamie Kaufman paced HPU with a team-high 13 kills against Robert Morris.

Kim Anderson represented the Panthers on the All-Tournament Team.

"We had two real good efforts on defense today," High Point head coach Chad Esposito said. "69 and 55 [digs] in six games is quite a bit. We've done a lot better in the backcourt getting balls up.

"Our offense is still a work in progress. We have a lot of work to do with that, but as a team we made some definite strides this weekend."

Pickens led the win over Delaware State with her fifth double-double of the season. Four HPU players (Kaufman, Ashley Johnson, Rachel Schamberger) had at least six kills. Schamberger notched a career-best nine blocks, and Anderson (15 digs) and Whitney Kaltenegger (12 digs) provided solid defense. Michelle Feiser (20 assists) and Heather Butt (15 assists) each performed well at the setting position.

"The win was a collective effort," Esposito said. "Everybody played, and everybody contributed. It was good to get some of our confidence back."

Against Robert Morris, the Panthers battled back from a 26-21 deficit in game two to have a game point at 32-31, but the Colonials won the last three points to take the game and went on to a three-game victory.

"Robert Morris is a quality team," Esposito said. "They've won their conference several years in a row, so we knew they would be tough."

Feiser had 30 assists and 13 digs in the match, while Anderson (20 digs) and Pickens (17 digs) paced the Panthers on defense.

The Panthers now stand at 3-7 on the season and host Campbell (2-5) at 7:00 pm on Tuesday.

"We're still a young team, and sometimes it shows," Esposito said. "We're still trying to connect out there with each other from time to time. Hopefully we'll continue to get better, and we're looking forward to Tuesday."
