Box Score Tom Graham became the second Radford pitcher of the weekend to throw a complete game, allowing two runs and four hits in nine innings to help the visiting Highlanders to a 7-2 win over High Point Sunday afternoon at Erath Field.
Radford improves to 6-12 (3-0 in Big South play) while the Panthers dip to 4-19 (0-3).
The Highlanders came from behind to win for the second-straight game. Graham (1-0) took the win, while Mark Shorey (1-6) took the loss for HPU. Panther starter Josh Cotten didn't allow an earned run in 5 1/3 innings of work but didn't figure in the decision.
Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, the Panthers tied the game up on Chris Draska's second home run of the year over the fence in left-center. The Panthers took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth when Rey Rojas doubled and eventually scored from third base on a throwing error.
Radford battled back and re-gained the lead for good in the top of the eighth when designated hitter Jesse Ross (3-for-5) hit an RBI single to center that scored Mark Fleisher from third and made the score 3-2. The Highlanders tacked on four insurance runs to claim the win.
Matt Mantione went 2-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI to lead the Highlanders. Rojas, Draska, Matt Keever and Josh Doane had the hits for HPU.
The Panthers will travel to Gardner-Webb for a non-conference game on Wednesday. First pitch is slated for 3:00 pm.
