Box Score Steve LeFaive hit two home runs and had seven RBI to lead Wake Forest to a 23-7 win over High Point Monday at Hooks Field.
The Demon Deacons, who won a 6-5 decision with the Panthers on Sunday, improve to 4-3, while HPU dips to 3-8.
Chris Ramirez homered for the second-straight game for High Point.
Kyle Young (2-0) got the win for Wake Forest, while
Josh Cotten (1-1) was saddled with the loss for HPU.
Wake scored single runs in the first and third innings off Cotten before exploding for a nine-run fourth inning.
The Panthers got on the board with three runs in the sixth. Ramirez's single to right scored
Anthony Bell, and
Corey Stang's double scored Ramirez and
Josh Doane.
But the Deacons responded with four runs in the sixth and five in the fifth, including LeFaive's pinch-hit grand slam.
Ramirez blasted a solo shot to right -- his second of the series (and the season) in the eighth off Wake reliever
Daniel Davidson, and after the Deacs put three more on the board in the bottom of the inning, Bell's ninth-inning double plated
Ken Keesee and
Rey Rojas and
Matt Richardson's groundout scored
Justin Pinyan to complete the scoring.
Wake Forest outhit the Panthers by a 17-9 count and took advantage of four Panther errors.
The Panthers and Deacons will play again on Wednesday at Hooks Field (2:30 pm first pitch).
