Box Score Charleston Southern completed a three-game sweep of High Point, 8-3, Monday afternoon in a Big South baseball series finale at Erath Field.
The Panthers fall to 11-26 (2-9 in Big South play), while the Buccaneers improve to 13-24 (6-6).
Ian Holmen (1-3) picked up the win in relief for CSU, while High Point's Toby Hoskins (1-4) took the loss.
HPU led 2-0 after scoring single runs in the second and third innings. Mark Shorey scored in the second on Jayson Hoffman's sacrifice fly and a Shorey walk forced across Matt Christie in the third.
CSU came back with three runs in the fourth to grab a 3-2 advantage. After a pair of walks and a fielders' choice, the Bucs had runners at first and second with one out. Jay Reynolds then reached on an infield single and advanced when Christie's throw from short went in the dugout, scoring Scott Thacker. A two-run single by Jordan Haar scored William Dalton and Reynolds.
The Panthers tied it up at 3-3 in the fifth on an RBI groundout by Rey Rojas which scored Christie.
CSU regained the lead, 4-3, in the sixth when Brad Woods drew the fourth walk of the inning to score Thacker from third.
The Bucs added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh and eighth to complete the scoring.
High Point renews the cross-county rivalry with UNC Greensboro Wednesday night (6:00 pm) in Greensboro. CSU visits Campbell Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 pm.
