Box Score UNC Wilmington scored 10 runs in the first inning of its 21-2 win over visiting High Point in college baseball action Tuesday at Brooks Field.
The Seahawks sent 13 men to the plate in the first and improved to 12-5. The Panthers fell to 3-10.
Every UNCW starter had a hit and a run scored.
Chris Coughlin (2-2) struck out a season-high ten batters while allowing one hit. After allowing a leadoff single in the first, Coughlin mowed down 15 of the next 16 batters he faced.
HPU's Chris Hyatt (0-2) lasted just 2/3 of an inning and allowed 10 runs on eight hits and a pair of walks. First baseman Brent Myers went 1-for-1 with a home run and two runs scored coming off the bench for the Panthers. Catcher Mike Bruschuk added an RBI single in the ninth.
John Raynor and Michael Marbry collected four hits apiece to lead the Seahawks offensively. Russ Simmerman and Matt Sutton each slammed their second home runs of the season. Chip Grawey added four runs batted in.
High Point opens a three-game series with Buffalo Friday afternoon at Erath Field (3:00 pm).
