Box Score
High Point snapped an eight-game skid by sweeping Brown in a doubleheader, 6-4 and 6-2, Friday afternoon at Erath Field.
The Panthers improve to 9-18 on the season, while Brown falls to 3-13-1.
In Game 1, Nick Thompson's two-run double to deep center capped a four-run High Point seventh inning and gave the Panthers a 6-4 win. Kevin Burch (3-4) picked up the victory for HPU and allowed just one earned run in 6 2/3 innings. Clayton Gordner threw 2 1/3 innings of no-hit relief to earn his first save of the season.
Chris Davidson (1-2) took the loss for the Bears (3-12-1).
Trailing 1-0 in the third inning of Game 2, the Panthers exploded for three runs off Brown starter Justin Lebowitz (1-2). A base hit by Ken Keesee scored Rey Rojas, Kemp Smith scored on a passed ball, and Keesee came across on a triple by Mark Shorey for the only runs HPU would need.
Gordner (2-0) got the win in relief of HPU starter Toby Hoskins, who allowed one earned run in 4 1/3 innings of work.
Robert Deeb and Jeff Nichols each had two hits for Brown in the second game.
The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday at Erath Field beginning at noon. Admission is free.
