Elon won the second game of a three-game series with High Point, 10-6, on a cold and rainy day at Erath Field.

Game 2 of the doubleheader was postponed due to inclement weather and rescheduled for Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm.

Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the third, HPU tied things up when Mike Bruschuk's double plated Kemp Smith and Rey Rojas to knot the score at 3-3.

But Elon would explode for a quartet of runs in the fourth to take a 7-3 advantage. Holt Montgomery clubbed his second home run of the season, and Paul Bennett scored on a single by Drew Davis and Brian Ingram's double brought home Davis and Evan Tartaglia.

High Point cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning when Rojas' double scored Anthony Bell and Matt Christie to make it 7-5.

The Phoenix made the most of their opportunities and scored single runs in the fifth, sixth and ninth innings, while the Panthers left runners on in eight of nine innings and stranded 14 men overall.

Lance Cole (1-0) didn't allow a run in 3 2/3 innings of work in relief of Elon starter Brian Hensen.

For High Point, starter Matt Kniginyzky (1-4) struck out five of the first seven batters he faced before running into trouble. Clayton Gordner fanned six and allowed one run in 3 2/3 innings of relief work.
