Riley Gostisha threw seven innings of scoreless ball for his first shutout of the year as High Point downed Brown, 4-0, on Monday afternoon at Erath Field.

The game was a make-up of a contest postponed last weekend due to rain.

Ryan Thiede provided the big blow for the Panthers at the plate with a three-run homer in the 5th off Brown starter Jonathan Stern (3-1). It was Thiede's second home run of the season, and gave the Panthers a 4-0 lead.

That was more than enough for Gostisha, who fanned six and scattered four hits and one walk over seven innings to pick up his fourth victory of the year (4-2).

High Point got its first run of the game on a Matt O'Neil sacrifice fly to left which scored Justin Keegan for what turned out to provide the margin of victory.

The Panthers hit the road for a 3:00 pm contest Tuesday at Davidson before returning home to begin the Big South slate against UNC Asheville Friday at 3:00 pm.
