Visiting Towson scored four runs each in the 5th and 8th innings, and avoided a weekend sweep with a 13-6 win over High Point Sunday afternoon at Erath Field.
High Point drops to 11-11, while Towson improves to 8-6-1.
The Panthers committed a season-high six errors, which resulted in six unearned runs for HPU pitchers Kevin Burch and Phil Leake.
HPU took a 1-0 lead when Justin Keegan, who had reached base on an error, scored on a wild pitch. But the Tigers would come back with two runs in the 3rd and four in the 5th to build a 6-1 lead, and scored at least one run in each of their final five at-bats.
Gregg Davies (3-for-4, 3 runs, 2 doubles. 2 RBI) and Scott Bacon (2-for-5, 3 runs, 3 RBI) led the way at the plate for Towson.
Justin Keegan (2-for-4, 2 runs) led the way at the plate for the Panthers.
Starter Andy Hampton (1-0) allowed one earned run in five innings. Kevin Burch (4-3) took the loss for High Point.
The Panthers face Brown Monday afternoon (2:30 pm) in a makeup game at Erath Field.
