Campbell turned a slim 47-45 halftime lead into a second-half beating and raced past visiting High Point, 99-80, Tuesday night at Carter Gym.
Danny Gathings led the Panthers (2-5)with 25 points on 12-of-16 shooting.
There were 13 ties and six lead changes in the first half before Campbell (3-3) put together a 13-4 run (the first such streak for either team) to take control and build a 68-58 advantage with 12:09 to play. The Panthers, who were plagued by defensive breakdowns all night, wouldn't get any closer the rest of the way.
The Camels made 11 three-pointers, including eight in the second half. Former Panther Brooks Lee made six of them and ended up with 21 points. Two other Camels broke the 20-point barrier as well: Tarick Johnson (22 points on 8-for-10 shooting) and Jonte' Edwards (20 points).
Joe Knight followed up his 40-point performance at Vanderbilt Sunday with 21 points against the Camels.
The Panthers actually outrebounded Campbell, 41-28, but it wasn't enough to compensate for the Camels' hot shooting.
High Point travels to Washington State Saturday night for a 10:00 pm EST tip-off. The game will be played at Spokane Arena, site of the 2003 NCAA Tournament's first and second rounds.
