Edward Scott led a pack of six Clemson players in double-figures as the Tigers handed High Point its first loss of the season, 91-65, Wednesday night at the Greensboro Coliseum.
Joe Knight led the Panthers (2-1) with a game-high 16 points off the bench.
Clemson (2-0) took control early, shooting a blistering 61 percent (17-for-28) from the field in the first half. But Knight, who didn't start after missing the win over Central Connecticut with an ankle injury, kept HPU in it with 10 first-half points.
The Tigers exploited their size advantage inside, with Sharrod Ford and Ray Henderson having their way on the glass. Clemson led 45-28 at halftime.
Junior Brent Halsch playing in his hometown, provided a spark for the Panthers off the bench as well, finishing with 12 points, including three treys after attempting just nine shots from behind the arc all of last season.
Dustin Van Weerdhuizen also scored in double-figures for the Panthers (11 points).
Clemson got 13 points and seven rebounds from Ford, 12 rebounds, seven boards and four blocks from Henderson, and 12 points from Chey Christie. The Panthers didn't get within 16 points in the second half.
The schedule gets no easier for the Panthers, who travel to Kentucky for an 8:00 pm tip-off on Tuesday. The game will be broadcast live on WIST, 98.3-FM with Alan York and Lee Owen courtside from Rupp Arena.
