Drew Sanchez was named the Deputy Athletics Director in August 2021. Sanchez had served as the Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations for the prior academic year. Sanchez moved into this role in August 2020, after previously serving as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. He oversees all athletic compliance efforts for the department, in addition to being the departmental liaison with admissions, financial aid, housing/dining, registrar, and student accounts. Sanchez is the sport administrator for the baseball program and the men’s and women’s track and field/cross country programs. Sanchez also oversees the athletic communications department, as well as the department's Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) program.
Sanchez was appointed as a member of the NCAA International Student Records Committee in March of 2022. Sanchez was the first HPU athletic staff member to be named to a NCAA national committee in the program's NCAA DI history. The International Student Records Committee provides knowledge and expertise regarding international educational systems to establish supplemental initial-eligibility policies and procedures, which complement the NCAA Division I and II bylaws.
Sanchez joined the Panthers in December 2017 as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance, until his promotion to Associate Athletic Director for Compliance in December 2019. Sanchez continues to oversee NCAA compliance for over 385 HPU student-athletes, as well as 65+ HPU athletic department staff.
Sanchez comes to the Triad after spending almost a year and a half at Creighton University as the Assistant Director of Compliance and most-recently, the Director of Compliance.
Prior to his time at Creighton, Sanchez served as the Director of Compliance at Southern Wesleyan University located in Central, S.C.
An Albuquerque, New Mexico native, Sanchez earned his bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall in Business Administration/Sports Management graduating Magna Cum Laude. Following that he acquired a J.D., with a Sports Law Certificate from Marquette University Law School in 2015. He is married to Megan Sanchez and they reside in High Point, NC.
