NOTRE DAME, IND. — The High Point University women's golf team wrapped up its third fall tournament at The Warren Golf Course on the campus of the University of Notre Dame on Sunday afternoon.

HPU played its first 36-hole day on Saturday, followed by its best round of the Fighting Irish Classic on Sunday, as the Panthers finished eighth overall.

Head Coach Lyndsey Hunnell: "The first day was rough for us. The course was playing a very different layout than what we've been used to, and it really challenged us in a lot of ways. We didn't play the way we know we're capable of, and there were too many mistakes that added up throughout the round. The girls did a great job learning from the first day and taking it into the final round. We had a lot of improvements and had much safer game plans to conquer the course. I'm happy the team was able to adjust and learn. We are still a very young roster so we have a lot to build on into our next event."

Grubb has finished 16th or better in all three tournaments. The sophomore's best round came during the second half of Saturday as she carded a 1-under-par 70 in the second round. It was the Panthers' only under round. Grubb paired the under-par round with two 75s and had a team-tying best eight birdies.

Lye carded a top-25 finish, finishing 25th in all three events so far this fall. She joined Grubb with a team-best eight birdies as her best round (74) came in the second round. Lye started the Fighting Irish Classic with a 76 and ended it with a 75.

Howerton, who carded eight birdies alongside Grubb and Lye, wrapped up the two-day event with her most-efficient round (72). The senior had the team's best round on day three to finish on a high note — after rounds of 77 and 78 on Saturday — to finish T33.

Joyce was back in the starting lineup and joined Howerton with her best round coming on Sunday. The freshman carded a 2-over-par 73 to cap her second collegiate event — with a pair of 78s coming on the 36-hole day — to finish T40. She collected six birdies.

Pencelli entered the Panthers' lineup after competing as an individual, finishing T47 with two birdies. The freshman shot her best on Sunday with a 75 to pair with rounds of 80 and 76.

Cherry represented HPU as the individual this week, sinking five birdies and carding her best round (73) to cap the 36-hole Saturday. The junior, who finished T51, also shot rounds of 78 and 81 in the first and final rounds.
