CHARLOTTE, N.C. — For the third consecutive week, the High Point University women's golf team has swept the Big South Conference weekly awards as announced by the league office on Thursday.
Makayla Grubb was selected the Big South Golfer of the Week for the third week in a row, while
Rachel Joyce earns her third Big South Freshman of the Week honor this season.
Grubb tied for medalist honors at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate (par 71, 5,965 yards) with a 12-under par 201 (66-68-67) for her second individual title in the last three tournaments. Her first round 66 established her collegiate low, and she sunk a tournament-high 18 birdies — making six in each round, including back-to-back third-round birdies on holes 16 and 17 to secure co-medalist honors. Grubb led the entire field of 81 players with an impressive 3.52 average (-10) on par 4 holes, while averaging 4.67 (-5) on the par 5 layouts.
Joyce tied for 14th at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate with an even-par 213 (71-71-71). She matched her best leaderboard standing this fall while securing her lowest 54-hole score to date. Joyce had nine birdies, and was sixth-best in par-4 scoring at 3.95 (-1).
