CHARLOTTE, N.C. — High Point University's Rachel Joyce has been named the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Thursday.

Joyce earns the honor following her first collegiate tournament at the Golfweek Fall Challenge (par 71, 6004 yards), where she recorded a 3-over par 216 (66-75-75) to tie for 14th out of 120 competitors.  

She carded a bogey-free, 5-under 66 to jumpstart her career and tie the lowest first round in program history, which was set by Anna Howerton's lowest round (66) from the UNCG Collegiate in 2023.

A native of Pinehurst, N.C., Joyce tied for seventh in the field in par-4 scoring and finished with seven birdies to help the Panthers finish fourth in the 23-team tournament.
