Six Women's Track & Field Athletes Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

HIGH POINT, N.C. - The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Women's Track & Field/Cross Country teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. High Point University received six honorees on this year's ballot including, Ashlyn Giles, Lily Houston, Emily Romano, Brianna Malone, Zamesha Myle and Mya Hines.
 
Giles, a graduate student, finished out the 2025-26 season with a 3.68 GPA while obtaining her master's in business administration. She dominated this season in the throwing events becoming one of HPU's best female throwers in program history. She was crowned the Big South Indoor and Outdoor Shot Put champion and podiumed in the discus. She holds the indoor and outdoor Big South and program record in the shot put (16.56m outdoors and 16.31m indoors) and the Big South and program record in the discus (52.85m). Giles advanced to the NCAA First Rounds in both the shot put and discus events to cap her collegiate career.
 
Houston completed her sophomore season with a 3.72 GPA while studying chemistry. In the pole vault, she was crowned the Big South Indoor Champion after clearing a personal best 4.02m. She was the runner-up at the Big South Outdoor Championships and cleared a personal best 4.13m to advance to the NCAA Division I East First Rounds for the first time in her career.
 
Romano was outstanding in the classroom and in the pole vault during the 2026 season, boasting a 4.0 GPA in finance. She was crowned the Big South Outdoor Champion with a 4.18m mark and registered a 4.24m personal best in the following meet at the Dani Palooza Last Chance. She qualified for the NCAA Division I East First Rounds and placed 12th overall to earn a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Championships where she finished 18th for All-American Honorable Mention honors. Romano will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 15, 2026.
 
Malone finished her junior year with a 3.95 GPA in actuarial science. During the 2025-26 season, she won the Big South Indoor 800m race for the second consecutive season, clocking a 2:11.50 time. At the Big South Outdoor Championships, she won the 1500m with a 4:23.51 time and the 5000m with a 17:01.01 time. She also made the podium in second place in the 800m at the outdoor championships.
 
Myle completed her collegiate career earning her master's in communication and business leadership with a 3.53 GPA. Myle had an incredible week at the Big South Outdoor Championships, winning the 100m (11.46) and the 200m (23.11) with program record times while also guiding the 4x100m relay team to a Big South title. She also landed a spot on the podium in the triple jump with a program record 13.24m jump and the long jump with a 6.03m mark. Myle qualified for the NCAA Division I East First Rounds in the triple jump and recorded a 13.20m mark for 13th place.
 
Hines, a junior, had her best season of her collegiate career. In the classroom she posted a 3.50 GPA in psychology. As a combined events athlete, she won the Big South Pentathlon Heptathlon with a program record 3,717 points and was the runner-up in the heptathlon with 5,074 points. She holds the heptathlon program record with 5,141 points that she recorded at the 44 Farms Invite. She qualified for the NCAA Division I East First Rounds for the first time in her career and posted a program record 1.79m to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon, becoming HPU's first women's high jumper to compete.
