LYNCHBURG, Va. – On Wednesday, a small group of track and field athletes from the High Point University men's and women's programs competed at a mid-week meet at Liberty University for the Liberty Twilight. The pole vaulters and throwers represented HPU in the one-day meet.
In the women's pole vault,
Emily Romano and
Lily Houston both cleared 3.92m to place in sixth and seventh place respectively.
Kaitlin Richards registered a new personal best with a 3.82m bar.
In the men's pole vault, four Panthers represented HPU in the high pit finals.
Grant Gogel placed second with a 5.23m clear along with
Jackson Tuomey who also cleared 5.23m for third place.
Maxwell Robinson and Jake Morgan both cleared 4.93m.
In the women's discus
Ashlyn Giles had the highest placement for the Panthers in second with a 50.72m throw.
Vanessa Kobialka was not far behind her with a 48.65m throw for fifth place.
Jill Stroup represented the Panthers in the women's hammer throw and placed sixth overall after launching a personal best, 51.72m.
In the men's shot-put event,
Caleb Barley placed sixth with a 16.11m throw. He later threw in the discus and placed 10th with a 44.96m throw.
Bradley Weiner threw 44.04m and
Prince Brockington threw 38.89m in the discus as well.
Weiner finished out the day with a first-place title in the men's hammer after throwing 54.01m. Barley and Brockington also finished strong in the top 10 as Barley threw a personal best 50.60m and Brockington threw 45.49m.
