Newark, Del. — The High Point University men's lacrosse team took to the field Saturday afternoon for the team's second Atlantic-10 game of the 2026 season against the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens. The Panthers won their second-straight A-10 game, 12-8.
High Point was led by Ryan Hynes, who finished with four goals and one assist. Carson Robins added another two goals and two assists. Luca Accardo broke the school record for ground balls recovered in a game with 19, a record that has not been broken since 2019. Accardo also won a total of 21 of 23 faceoffs.
"I'm really proud of how our team scrapped today," Head Coach John Crawley stated. "We knew we were going to see a team that scrapped and played very hard and I thought we did the same. Their goalie had an excellent day, and I was happy with how we stayed the course offensively. Defensively I thought we did a better job of communicating and that went a long way. Then, of course, Luca had another career day, breaking his own record… he's a warrior. Proud of the team effort, and excited to move on to another excellent team next week."

The Panthers opened up the game with a 2-0 lead after Ian Cann and Hynes both netted goals. Delaware scored their first goal of the game, but then Robins found Matt Lutzel to go back up by two. With just over a minute left in the first quarter, Cann assisted on Collin Rovere to give the Panthers a 4-2 lead.
Hynes opened up the scoring for the Panthers in the second quarter, while Nicholas Steele scored his first goal of the game off a pass from Cann just over two minutes later. Delaware tied the game at six heading into halftime. Accardo won all 13 faceoffs he took in the first half.
Justin Wixted found Robins less than a minute into the second half to give the Panthers a 7-6 lead. High Point took another two-goal lead as Hynes found Robins. HPU held the Blue Hens scoreless in the third quarter.
Hynes secured the hat trick with 14:21 remaining in the contest to take a 9-6 lead. Freshman Luke Fenderson got the Panthers into double-figures with the third goal of his young career. Robins found Wixted to lead by three. Then, with under one minute left, Hynes scored his fourth goal of the game on an open net as the Panthers won 12-8.
Goalie Zack Overend finished the game with 10 saves, for a 55.6 percent save rate. The Panthers doubled Delaware in the amount of grandballs recovered (40-20).
UP NEXT: The Panthers will head back on the road to face Saint Joseph's for the team's third Atlantic-10 game of the season. The matchup will take place on Saturday, March 28 at 3:00 PM in Philadelphia, Pa.
