COLUMBUS, Ohio – The High Point University men's lacrosse team traveled to take on its second ranked opponent this season at No. 9 Ohio State University. After 60 minutes of action, HPU fell to the Buckeyes on Saturday afternoon, 13-5.

Matt Lutzel scored High Point's first goal in the first half off a pass from teammate
Ian Cann. Following Lutzel's goal at the 8:35 mark in the second quarter, the Panthers were scoreless for the remainder of the quarter, making it 9-1 at the break.
HPU took nine shots while Ohio State took 19 in the first half.
At the start of the second half, Cann scored one minute on an attempt to boost the High Point offense. Down the stretch,
Justin Wixted rounded the front of the crease and jumped in the air for a shot. The shot found the back of the net and was originally called a goal but after review was reversed. Ohio State led 12-2 at the end of the third quarter.
Luca Accardo won the face off to start the fourth and final quarter, which set the Panthers up to strike first with
Ryan Hynes tagging in a goal for his fifth of the season. The Panthers won 11 face offs to the Buckeyes' 10 as Accardo led the Panthers with nine.
In the final five minutes of action, High Point scored on back-to-back possessions. First with a goal from
Nicholas Steele who was found cutting across the middle from
Collin Rovere. In the next possession, HPU forced an Ohio State turnover following the faceoff which led to
Luke Fenderson scoring his first goal of his career to make it 12-5 in favor of the Buckeyes.
HPU took 25 shots to the Buckeyes' 32. All five of HPU's goals were scored by a different player.
