SPARKS, Md. - On Tuesday, the USA Lacrosse Division I Men's Preseason All-Americans were announced, honoring 84 players from 31 institutions. High Point University's Luca Accardo from the men's lacrosse team was named to the honorable mention list as a faceoff specialist.

Accardo a senior from Syosset, N.Y., appeared in all 16 games at the faceoff during his junior year for the Panthers. He led the Atlantic 10 with 218 faceoff wins during the season (218-351) on a .620 win percentage, setting the HPU single-season faceoff win record. In the A10 semifinals he tied the single-game record going 22-27 from the X, with a career-high 16 ground balls, leading HPU to a victory over Saint Joseph's (May 1). His 16 ground balls was second all-time in program history in a single-game.

Accardo led the A10 in ground balls with 154 to average 9.63 per game, dominating the league by 50+ ground balls. His 154 ground balls also set the single-season program record. He finished the regular season ranked third overall in the NCAA in ground balls per game (8.93 pg). Adding to his stats, he scored three goals during the season including the game winner versus Hobart (Mar. 29).
