CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced the volleyball players of the week on Monday afternoon, naming High Point University's Maya Bukovcan as the Freshman of the Week. This was HPU's first volleyball player of the week for the 2025 season after picking up the sweep over Radford University to open conference play.
 
Bukovcan continues to be a force in the middle for the Panthers, putting down kills on the attack and altering opponent's hits at the net. On Friday night against the Highlanders, she led the team alongside outside hitter Élodie Lalonde with eight kills on a .538 hitting percentage. She also led the team on the block with seven total blocks, two of which were solo blocks.
 
High Point will play at home inside the Millis Center for the first time this season on Friday, October 4 at 6:00 p.m. against Winthrop University. Admission is free for all fans attending the games this weekend.
