CHARLOTTE, NC — Junior Avery Crowell and freshman Simon Triezenberg, of the High Point University men's cross country team, have both received Big South honors after the Lancer Pink Invitational on Saturday. Crowell has been named Big South Runner of the Week for the first time this season Triezenberg was awarded with Freshman of the Week after just his second collegiate meet. Both awards were announced by the conference Wednesday afternoon.
Crowell finished with a first-place overall time of 25:42.6, his best of his career. He was dominant in both the Friday Night Lights Elon Opener and the Lancer Pink Invitational. Crowell has now started the season with two top-three overall finishes.
Triezenberg clocked in with a 8k time of 25:57.8 and finished fourth overall at the Lancer Pink Invitational. His time was just two seconds away from third place. Triezenberg paced at a time of 3:17.23 seconds. The Grand Rapids, Mich. native started his collegiate career with two strong performances and will look to improve even more in the next meet.
Triezenberg is the Panthers' second conference Freshman of the Week honoree this season after just two competitions.
UP NEXT: Crowell and Triezenberg will compete next in Greenville, N.C., on Friday, October 3rd in a meet hosted by East Carolina University.
