CHARLOTTE, NC — Freshman Max Bonilla has started off big to begin his collegiate career as he was named Big South Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference Wednesday afternoon.

Bonilla finished the meet with a 6k time of 18:43.3. This time locked him into seventh place at the Friday Night Lights Elon Opener. He was just over three seconds away from placing top-five. Bonilla paced at a three minute and seven second time throughout the race. He was competitive the entire race, was able to stay with the top runners, and was one of two freshmen to place in the top seven. The Elizabeth, N.J. native has started out his college career almost as dominant as one can be.
 

UP NEXT: Bonilla will compete next in Raleigh, N.C., on Friday, September 19th for the Adidas XC Challenge hosted by N.C. State University.
