HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Lyndsey Boswell announced the addition of
Caroline Davidson as the Panthers' newest assistant coach on Friday.
Davidson will coach the HPU goalies and defense.
"I am so excited to be joining the HPU family," Davidson said, "and so grateful to Coach Boswell for the opportunity! I am looking forward to getting started and contributing to the continued success of this amazing team. Go Panthers!"
A three-time All-American defender at the University of Florida, Davidson comes to High Point following three collegiate coaching stops: Drexel University (2017-2018), Arizona State University (2018-2019), and Virgina Commonwealth University (2019-2021).
Since then, Davidson has been coaching travel teams for Lotus Lacrosse Club/Team 91 Virginia and clinics where she has primarily focused on developing the defenders and goalies.
"I'm really excited to have Caroline join our staff," Boswell said. "She's going to lead our goalies and enhance our defensive unit. She's a humble, hardworking and kind person that is ready to hit the ground running."
While at Drexel, Davidson worked primarily with the defense and under then Dragons' head coach
Hannah Wszalek, who now is the HPU Associate Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. Davidson worked closely with the CAA Rookie of the Year Colleen Grady as she became the first Drexel player ever to receive a major postseason conference honor.
In her next two stops at Arizona State and VCU, alike Drexel, she assisted with defensive concepts, helped implement defensive schemes, and developed practice/game plans. She also helped recruit, leading recruiting tours and creating presentations for prospective student-athletes.
A four-year starter at the Florida, Davidson, the former Caroline Fitzgerald, graduated as the program's all-time leader in ground balls (152) and caused turnovers (87). She started all 82 games of her four-year career, the second most in school history. The Gators compiled a 68-14 record during her time in Gainesville, capturing the regular season and conference tournament crown in each campaign. She excelled off the field as well as on it, earning a spot on the Big East All-Academic Team and the SEC Spring Honor Roll as a senior.
Davidson was a two-time Tewaaraton Award Nominee (2016, 2017) and a three-time Earning IWLCA All-American honoree. The two-time Big East Defender of the Year (2016, 2017) also was named to the All-Big East First Team on three occasions (2015-2017). She was named team captain of the 2017 squad, a team that finished ranked No. 9 in the country with a 17-3 record. As a rookie, she won two NCAA Tournament games and was named to the Inside Lacrosse All-Rookie Team
In 2017, Davidson was drafted by the New York Fight of the Women's Professional Lacrosse League Inaugural Draft. She was then selected by the Long Island Sound of the United Women's Lacrosse League in 2018.
Before arriving in Gainesville, Davidson was a prep star at Mount Sinai High School in New York. She was selected to the Under Armour Senior North Team after completing a perfect 17-0 season that ended with a victory in the Class C Championship. Prior to that, Fitzgerald was a three-time Under Armour High School All-American (2010-12). In 2013, she coached Long Island Top Guns Lacrosse and was the head coach for a pair of elite high school travel lacrosse clubs.
Davidson graduated from the University of Florida in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in the School of Telecommunications.
