NCAA Releases 2023-24 APR; HPU Reaches 98.7%

HIGH POINT, N.C. — The NCAA released the data for the Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR) for 2023-2024 as seven teams had a perfect 1.000 yearly rate and all 16 High Point University teams were above the 97% threshold.

HPU's overall APR was 789 out of 799 possible points, which equals to 98.7%. Men's golf had yet another perfect APR and holds a multi-year rate of 1.000. Joining men's golf with a perfect 1.000 yearly rate was men's basketball, men's cross country, women's basketball, women's golf, women's soccer and volleyball.

"High Point University student-athletes Choose to be Extraordinary in both academics and athletics," HPU Vice President and Athletic Director Dan Hauser said. "The latest  98.7% APR announced by the NCAA is a testament to the outstanding academic success of our student-athletes. HPU is annually ranked in the top 20 in the nation for NCAA Division 1 (non-football division) in the Learfield Cup athletic standings and this year has currently won 11 conference championships. High Point University is in an elite category of NCAA DI universities for both academic and athletic achievement."

Implemented in 2003 as part of an ambitious academic reform effort in Division I, the Academic Progress Rate (APR) holds institutions accountable for the academic progress of their student-athletes through a team-based metric that accounts for the eligibility and retention of each student-athlete for each academic term.
