ISLE of PALMS, S.C. — Four-peat!
For the fourth consecutive year, High Point University has been crowned the George F "Buddy" Sasser Cup Champions as the Big South Conference's top overall athletic institution during the 2024-25 academic year. Conference officials presented the Cup to HPU Vice President and Athletic Director
Dan Hauser at the Big South Spring Meetings Thursday night in Isle of Palms, S.C.
The Panthers swept all three all-sports trophies for the second straight year, winning the seventh consecutive Women's All-Sports Cup and back-to-back Men's All-Sports Cup. HPU is one of only three universities to win the Sasser Cup four years in a row and one of just three universities to win all three all-sports trophies.
High Point now owns the Big South's longest consecutive streak with its seventh Women's All-Sports Award, while joining only four other universities to win the Men's All-Sports Award in back-to-back years.
"Extremely proud of our student-athlete, coaches, and staff for winning the Sasser Cup for a fourth consecutive year," HPU Vice President and Athletic Director
Dan Hauser said. "Our Panthers won a school record 13 conference championships in 2024-25 and swept the Men's/Women's All-Sport Trophies for consecutive years, which is representative of the sustained winning success in our culture. Congratulations to our entire athletic department team on a historic championship year. Go Panthers!"
High Point won an extraordinary department-best 13 conference championships: volleyball (regular season and tournament), women's cross country, men's soccer (regular season), men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field, men's basketball (regular season and tournament), women's basketball (regular season and tournament), and women's lacrosse (regular season).
The Panthers were more than two points higher than every Big South school in the Sasser Cup Standings, scoring 8.87 in the overall leaderboard as Charleston Southern (6.75) and UNC Upstate (6.05) respectively followed.
HPU continued its reign of being the only active Big South institution to win the Women's All-Sports Cup behind 9.06 points compared to Charleston Southern (6.50) and Radford (6.15). The Men's All-Sports Trophy comes to High Point for the second year in a row after the Panthers' 8.64 points surpassed Charleston Southern (7.13) and USC Upstate (6.14).
