Longwood scored two more runs in the bottom of the third after a couple of hits and a sacrifice fly, giving them a 4-1 lead. High Point punched back with an RBI single from Landen Johnson with the bases loaded, then Echazarreta scored home on a wild pitch to tie things up at four. Simpson hit an RBI double to score Johnson, giving HPU their first lead of the game. Melton followed that up with an RBI single giving the Panthers' a 7-4 lead in the top of the seventh.
Bryan Garrett (W, 1-0) relieved Walton in the fifth inning, giving up three earned runs and striking out the same amount in four innings pitched.
Hillier hit a sac fly to extend the Panthers lead to 9-5. Longwood tried to fight back scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth, but Dalton Olsovsky (S, 1) was able to get the final out to preserve the HPU win.
After a 40-minute break in-between games, game two was underway. Dylan Story (W, 5-2) started game two, allowing four earned runs over six innings while striking out four.
Longwood capitalized on three first-inning walks, leading to one run scored by the Lancers early.
It was not until the fourth inning when High Point got its first hit of the game on a Christian Smith RBI double to bring in two runs. This opened the floodgates for HPU as the Panthers scored five more runs in the fourth inning with RBI singles by Jace Kohler and Echazarreta along with a Konni Durschlag two-run RBI double.
The Panthers followed up a seven-run inning with another five runs in the fifth inning, including two home runs from Smith and Simpson.
HPU's bats continues to impress in the seventh inning, putting up another seven-run inning to give them a total of 19 runs scored on the day. Echazarreta, Murphy and Simpson all produced RBIs, while two batters scored on walks.
Longwood would score seven unanswered runs but would not be enough to keep up with a red-hot HPU offense, resulting in a HPU victory.
Eight different Panthers recorded a hit in the victory, resulting in a total of 19 hits while Landon Castor struck out five in two innings pitched and Howell Polk tossed a scoreless ninth frame.
