HIGH POINT, N.C. -  The Big South Conference has announced its weekly awards for the week of March 9 through March 16 as High Point University's Wade Walton was tabbed Big South Starting Pitcher of the Week. 

Walton started on the mound for the conference opener as the Panthers hosted Charleston Southern for a three game series. On Friday night, Walton was electric on the mound as he improved his record to 4-1 after shoving 7.0 innings, allowing just one run, on four hits, and striking out a career-high 11 batters. After his first five starts of his collegiate career, Walton has a 1.72 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 40 strikeouts, one shutout, and has earned two Starting Pitcher of the Week awards. 

High Point is back on the diamond tomorrow, March 18 as they head to Elon, N.C.  to face the Phoenix at 4:00 p.m.
