Johnson Crowned NCAA Statistical Champion

HPU atop Eight Offensive Categories

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Landen Johnson's consistency at the plate powered High Point University's offense throughout the season, as he ended the year atop the NCAA leader board in Runs Batted In. HPU as a team were atop eight offensive categories to finish the 2025 season.

The Indiana native finished his first season as a Panther with 86 RBI, earning himself the NCAA Statistical Champion title. Over the course of his redshirt junior season, Johnson started in all 57 games played in, batting .362 with 18 doubles, and 16 home runs.

"Landen exemplifies what it looks like to show up and be the same guy each day," Assistant Coach Derek Orndorff said. "He's never been satisfied with just "good enough" and he's continually working to improve his craft. It was to no one's surprise in our program that he put up the numbers he did last season. He's a professional hitter."

Johnson wasn't the only part of the Panthers offensive success that saw High Point lead in eight NCAA categories. The High Point bats led in runs (619), runs/game (10.7), on base % (.449), slugging % (.607), OPS (1.055), WOBA (.446), doubles (149), and total bases (1,235).

"Could not be prouder of our guys from last year and the way in which they went about their business," Orndorff said. "They prepared at an elite level, held one another accountable, and never wavered in the midst of adversity. Each opportunity that presented itself to perform throughout the season, they took full advantage of it."

A season that saw High Point shatter its own home run record from the previous season by 39 homers; it brought the new program record to 131. Those home runs placed High Point second in the nation in that category, as well as home runs/game (2.26) and doubles/game (2.57).

In Head Coach Joey Hammond's fourth season, High Point fell just short of being back-to-back Big South Champions but saw many program records be shattered by his offense. On top of a program record 39 wins, Hammond and staff led the offense to a new record in runs (619), doubles (149), home runs (131), RBI (578), total bases (1,237), on base % (.449), slugging % (.609), OPS (1.056), and walks (365).

High Point looks to get back to the top of the Big South once again and to continue to dominate on both sides of the ball.
