NEWARK, DE. – The High Point University Panthers met the University of Delaware Blue Hens for the first time in almost a decade in Newark, Delaware. After scoring the first initial goal of the game, the Panthers trailed through most of the game and fell 11-6.

High Point struck first, scoring the first goal of the night in the first two minutes of the game.
Tommy Meehan took a shot on goal at the Delaware goalie who got a stick on the ball but did not get a clean save, sending the ball back into the playing field.
Isiah Moran-Weekes scooped up the ground ball and converted on the second chance opportunity.
The Panthers were held scoreless through the next 20 minutes of play. Delaware managed to score three goals late in the first quarter before scoring an early goal in the second quarter to lead 4-2.
Before the end of the first half, the Blue Hens scored three more goals to lead 7-2 at the break.
The Panthers continued to compete and outscored Delaware in the third quarter 3-1.
Collin Rovere found
Ryan Hynes on the wing for the first goal of the quarter after slinging one into the net off a bounce shot. Rovere scored his first of the night off a pass from
Carson Robins with just under five minutes to go in the quarter.
Justin Wixted scored the Panthers third goal of the quarter, a minute and a half after Rovere's goal, blowing by his defender to take a shot in front of the crease.
High Point's three goal surge in the third quarter closed the gap from a five goal differential to a three goal differential, trailing 8-5 at the start of the fourth. In the final 15 minutes of action, High Point was only able to score one more goal with a shot from Rovere, resulting in the 11-6 loss.
Across the tape, High Point totaled 32 shots, 20 of which were on goal, while Delaware took 36 shots with 26 on goal. The Panthers went 9-for-20 on the faceoff, led by
Luca Accardo with eight wins and six ground balls while the Blue Hens went 11-for-20. On the clears, HPU was slightly more efficient going 17-for-20 while Delaware went 15-for-19.
Wixted and Rovere led the night with two goals apiece and
Zack Overend totaled 15 saves with 11 goals allowed for a .577 save percentage.
