CHARLOTTE, N.C. — High Point University women's golf swept the Big South Conference weekly awards as Julia McLaughlin was named Big South Golfer of the Week and Ambre Matlega was awarded Big South Freshman of the Week, which the conference office announced Thursday afternoon.

It is McLaughlin's first weekly award this season and Matlega's second.

McLaughlin helped the Panthers win the eight-team Oyster Shuck Match Play tournament this week with a 3-0 record. She won her first match, 7&5, against The Citadel, then finished her second match against Gardner-Webb leading by two holes. McLaughlin won her final match, 7&5, as the Panthers defeated Samford for the title.

Matlega earned a 7&6 win over The Citadel, then powered through to a 6&4 victory against Gardner-Webb in the semifinals. She fell two holes short in the final against Samford.
